A-61 Mantis Gunship Information

A-61 Mantis Gunship appears on multiple events, at the end of Dossier: Archangel, Tarak will shoot Garrus Vakarian causing him severe damage, if Commander Shepard prevents Sergeant Cathka to fully repair the Gunship, the Gunship will appear weakened. It is also seen an Eclipse version of A-61 Mantis Gunship during Dossier: The Justicar. At the end of Kasumi: Stealing Memory, Donovan Hock jumps into an A-61 Mantis Gunship version that seems to have kinetic shields, which later Kasumi Goto will disable during a cinematic scene.

Another A-61 Mantis Gunship is seen but there no battle, during one of the posible endings of Zaeed: The Price of Revenge, where Zaeed Massani does not get his revenge because Vido Santiago manages to escape in his A-61 Mantis Gunship.

How to beat A-61 Mantis Gunship

A-61 Mantis Gunship Boss Guide:

A-61 Mantis Gunship has Mass Accelerator Machine Guns and Rocket Launchers, and it's encountered in a few situations with some variants. It's important to remain in cover when the Gunship is around and deliver some shots when the Miniguns are on cooldown. Sometimes the Gunship may leave to a point where it cannot be shot, and then it comes back. It may be important to kill everyone as quickly as you can while the ship is gone, for you to get more space to shoot the Gunship. The Gunship may change it's position to get a better angle of attack so be quick to change cover when necesary.

Increased damage is inflicted by shooting at the cockpit. The M-920 Cain is very effective against it, or any Weapons or Powers that are proficient against armor will be effective too. The Gunship is immune to Stasis.

Variants:
  • If Shepard prevents the Gunship to be fully repaired during Dossier: Archangel, the Gunship will later appear weakened.
  • Donovan Hock's Gunship has a kinetic barrier, which will be eventually disabled by Kasumi on a cinematic scene. Donovan Hock's Gunship seems to be less accurate than other Gunships.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Rocket Launchers: The rate of fire of the missiles is pretty low. Missiles have a medium travel speed, so it is recommended to react fast when missiles are launched. The Gunship launches a wave of missiles but it won't spam multiple waves, so after a wave of missiles is launched, you can know the Gunship won't fire missiles during a short period of time. Be careful to think that the Gunship is distracted, beacuse if you come out when the Gunship is launching missiles at a Companion, it may quickly switch it's target and begin launching missiles at you on the same round of attack. Always be close to cover.
Machine Guns: It will shoot in long bursts of fire. The Gunship behaves as if it's waiting for you to get exposed, if you barely stand-up from cover to shot a few shots, and then very quickly hide again, the Gunship will keep waiting for you to get exposed. It may attack your Companions if they get exposed, but be careful to think that the Gunship is distracted, beacuse if you come out when the Gunship is shooting a Companion, it may quickly switch it's target and begin shooting at you on the same round of attack. Always be close to cover.
