Illium: Liara: Systems Hacking is an Optional Mission in Mass Effect 2. In Illium: Liara: Systems Hacking you meet your former teammate when you land on Illium for the first time. Optional Missions are secondary quests in Mass Effect 2, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets. Not to be confused with Assignments, in Mass Effect 2 there are a few Optional Missions and most of them revolve around choices in the first game.
Illium: Liara: Systems Hacking Walkthrough
You need to hack three terminals for Liara T'Soni. You can find them all on the southern portion of the map, near most of the Merchant shops. Once you hack a terminal, you have 60 seconds to find the corresponding vulnerable system to upload the data to your former teammate.
Immediately after hacking a terminal, a number in the lower-right corner will indicate the distance from the vulnerable system. After you manage to hack all three terminals, you will receive an experience rewards, +5 Renegade Points and a call from Liara asking you to return to her office.
Talk to her to complete the Mission. You receive x2000 credits and unlock the follow-up Mission: Illium: Liara: The Observer.
Terminal Locations
The first terminal can be found near the Tracking Office, its corresponding system can be found on the left of Baria Frontiers.
The second terminal is located near Gateway Personal Defense (close to Charr) and its corresponding system is just on the right of the Tracking Office.
The third terminal is between the area door and Gateway Personal Defense (next to two Asari) and its corresponding system is located behind Memories of Illium.
How to unlock Illium: Liara: Systems Hacking
- Originally obtained as Illium: Liara T'Soni, you obtain this Mission after talking to Careena upon your first landing on Illium. She will point you towards Liara's office. When you finally meet her, you have to ask her how is she, and she will respond that there are things she "needs to take care of", when she does, ask if she needs help. This will change the name to Illium: Liara: Systems Hacking.
