N7: Captured Mining Facility is an Assignment in Mass Effect 2. N7: Captured Mining Facility is is about exploring a mining facility that has been captured by Eclipse mercenaries. Assignments are secondary quests in Mass Effect 2, that are not mandatory to progress the game's story, but provide context and flavor by meeting interesting NPCs of all kind of Races, granting additional experience, and letting the player visit extraordinary and unique planets.
N7: Captured Mining Facility Walkthrough
As soon as you land, you will see the entrance to the mining facility open. Take the path until you arrive at a rock cave with crates scattered about. There's nothing important in the area, except for a cargo computer near the far rock. Access it and then keep going.
When you pass the metal doorway to your right, you will find three Eclipse Troopers and two Eclipse Vanguards. Get in cover to face them. After you deal with the mercs, there's a crate of Palladium on your left, grab it and head to the door on your right. Bypass it and read the PDA to learn what happened at the facility, then head up to the door.
You will find many Eclipse mercenaries in the next area. Get in cover as soon as you enter, you will spot an Eclipse Heavy at the other end of the catwalk you are on, beware of his rockets. Keep moving up from cover to cover, eventually you will reach a T-Junction. You will find four Eclipse Troopers there, around the corner. Another wave of Troopers will come soon enough.
Once you deal with them. you will find a med-kit behind from where the Heavy was shooting at you. You will see a crate of refined Palladium but don't grab it just yet. You will find some Power Cells in an alcove along the path you entered.
When you are ready, head to the center of the room to access the facility's main computer. You can learn more information about the reason of the attack after hacking it. One of the messages contains encrypted data on the Ter Alan's current location. When you try to decrypt it, three waves of mercenaries will come at you, led by Captain Vorleon. Mostly, they will come from your previous location, and if you extended the bridge to grab the Palladium, some will cross over, causing you to be attacked by both sides.
Once they are taken care of, access the computer again, and this time you can complete the decryption process. You can upload the data to Cerberus for further analysis and net you some Credits. If you didn't grab the refined Palladium, don't forget to go for it before ending the Assignment.
